Meet the Physicians

Our Board Certified General Surgeons all deal with patients with a wide variety of conditions, and perform many different types of surgery – please see the “About Us” web page for a detailed list. In addition, they have individual special interests, training and expertise.

Dr. ANNAMANENI is a board certified general surgeon, who graduated from medical school at the Gandhi Medical College, Hyderabad, India in 1988.  He completed surgical training in India in 1993 then received further advanced surgical training in the United Kingdom by 1998.  He then moved his family to the USA and completed general and specialized surgical training at New York Medical College, New York in 2004.  He then pursued a specialist training and gained a Colo-Rectal and Laparoscopic Fellowship in 2005. Being only trained colorectal surgeon in the area, his Special Interests are management of benign and malignant colorectal polyps, anorectal conditions including rectal prolapse, hemorrhoids, fistulas, warts and bleeding. Trananal endoscopic microsurgery, advanced laparoscopic colon surgery and other minimally invasive endoscopic colon procedures are his other interests.

Dr. EJEH is a board-certified general surgeon who graduated from medical school at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City in 1994. She completed a surgical internship at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital in New York City in 1995 and went on to complete her general surgery residency at Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC in 2002. Before finishing her surgical residency, Dr. Ejeh did transplant bench research at Hahnemann University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from 1997 to 1999 where she published papers and assisted in writing NIH research grants. In 2003, she went on to complete specialty training in Advanced Laparoscopy and Bariatric Surgery at Peachtree Surgical and Bariatrics in Atlanta, Georgia sponsored by Morehouse School of Medicine. She moved to Fayetteville in 2007, and has been in practice since then and is joining Cape Fear Valley Ferncreek General Surgery September 2014. Dr. Ejeh's special interests are laparoscopic gastric bypass, gastric banding and sleeve gastrectomy as well as advanced laparoscopy, endoscopy, breast and thyroid surgery. Dr. Ejeh’s husband is an Interventional Cardiologist and they have three children.

Dr. GOODMAN is a board certified general surgeon, who graduated from medical school at the University of London, England, in 1984.  After undergoing surgical training in the United Kingdom and obtaining trauma experience in South Africa, he came to the United States in 1992 and completed his US surgical training at York Hospital, Pennsylvania in 1996.  He was in solo practice in central Pennsylvania until he moved to Fayetteville in 1999.  He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, as well as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.  Dr. Goodman served as President of the Cumberland County Medical Society in 2007, and is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of Cape Fear Valley Health Systems.  His special interests are breast and thyroid surgery, and advanced laparoscopy including laparoscopic colon resection.  Dr. Goodman's wife is trained as a pediatric ICU nurse; they have four children.


Dr. VAN FOSSEN is a board certified general surgeon, who graduated medical school at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville Missouri in 2004. She completed her surgical training at Grandview Medical Center in Dayton Ohio in 2009. She has been in practice here in Fayetteville since 2009, and joined Cape Fear Valley-Ferncreek General Surgery in May 2014. She enjoys all aspects of general surgery but has special interest in Diseases of the breast and breast surgery.
Dr. Van Fossen is a clinical professor of surgery for medical students from multiple schools, and these students complete their General Surgery rotations with her throughout the year. She was named preceptor of the year in 2013 from the Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Dr. Van Fossen's husband is an Anesthesiologist and they have a son.


Dr. Thomas Harrell is a board eligible general surgeon, who graduated from medical school at University of South Florida, Tampa, in 2011. He completed general surgery training in 2016 at SUNY Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, New York, and has now joined the Ferncreek General Surgery practice. His professional interests include minimally invasive and robotic surgery, endocrine surgery, digestive disorders, colon and rectal surgery, hernia surgery, and trauma care. He is an active member of the American College of Surgeons, and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons.
